Most roofing warranties are only as good as the roofer. If the company is gone in five years, so is the warranty.
The three kinds of roof warranty
- The Arizona minimum. Arizona only requires a roofer to stand behind the workmanship for two years.
- The roofer's own workmanship warranty. This varies by company. Ours runs 10 to 25 years, depending on the roof system you choose.
- The manufacturer's warranty. This covers the materials, like the shingles.
What the Golden Pledge is
The Golden Pledge is GAF's strongest warranty. Only GAF Master Elite contractors can offer it, and GAF says fewer than two percent of roofers hold that certification. We are one of them.
On qualifying roofs it covers workmanship for 25 years and materials for 50, and it is backed by GAF, not just the roofer. That is the point. The warranty stays with the roof.
Coverage details and requirements come from GAF. We go over them with you at the inspection, along with the other roof systems and what their warranties cover.
What to ask about any warranty
- Who backs it, the roofer or the manufacturer?
- How long does it cover workmanship, not just materials?
- Is it in writing, and is it registered with the manufacturer?
- What would void it?
